12 days after the onslaught of Operation "Autumn Mist" in the Battle of the Bulge, the German advance is sputtering out.. The U.S. Army engineers blow bridges & blast roadways, forcing the heavy Panzers to take to narrow bicycle trails & thick woods.. Fuel supplies for the Germans are non-existant & Pattons 3rd Armoured Division is already swinging north in overwhelming force to "erase the bulge".. The U.S. 101st Airborne held the Belgian town of Bastogne despie the furious German onslaughts, thus cutting off this vital crossroad that leads to Hitler's primary objectives.. Factor in as well that the weather has cleared & massive Allied airpower is boming the German troops relentlessly day & night.. The Germans are forced to defend whichever perimeter they occupy, without supplies or fuel..Hundreds of German armoured vehicles & thousands of troops are shattered from the constant air attacks.. Kampfgruppe Peiper, was the German armoured spearhead once meant to shattered the American lines, now finds it's directives quite reversed. Colonel Jochen Peiper is forced to retreat to the nearby Belgian town of "La Glaize" to try to form up a defense.. Shorty after reaching the town the Allies begin smashing his armor from the air with P-51 Mustang fighter-bombers & from the ground with an all out armoured & infantry assault.. The end result of the battle were dozens of german armoured units without fuel were abandoned, the rest destroyed, the german troops that survive retreat back to germany only to be straffed by British fighter planes.. Jochen Peiper escapes the battle & returns to Germany, at the end of the war he is put on trial in Nurenberg for war crimes associated wih the massacre of American POW's in Malmedy in the opening stages of the "Battle of the Bulge"... This video is actual recorded gameplay, it's a close representation of Peipers final defeat & escape from La Glaise in 1944, An abandoned King Tiger tank from this battle is still to this day on display in the town of La Glaize...
