Blades in the Dark is coming to Kickstarter on March 7! Blades in the Dark is a tabletop roleplaying game about a crew of scoundrels seeking their fortunes in a haunted industrial-fantasy city. This episode features Adam Koebel, Sean Nittner, Stras Acimovic, and myself, John Harper (the designer of the game), playing a tutorial session. We demonstrate the core action resolution mechanic, the teamwork and planning systems, and advancement for the characters and the crew. I ran this game with zero prep (other than character creation) so you can see how the GM can get the game started without setting anything up beforehand. Since this was a demo game, we explain everything as we go and try to show all the moving parts -- which means the pace is somewhat slower than normal. In a standard session of the game, you can expect to do two jobs and two development cycles.
