Instagram - / therealjakegottfried Letterboxd - https://sites.google.com/view/jakegot... ______________________________________________ As I said, Joey King stars as THE Princess, where she wakes up locked in a tower, but when the soldiers belonging to the madman who kidnapped her approach, she’s not your damsel in distress, she’ll put all the men in distress. Ha-Ha. So get this, she can fight back, and she knows how to fight, so be cautious. She has to get through the castle, to get to her royal family, and save the kingdom from the mad son of a royal diplomat (Played by Dominic Cooper) who wants the kingdom will force THE Princess to marry him, but she’ll not only have to save her family and kingdom but prove to all that a woman can….. Fight? I don’t know, two different women in the movie seem to be allowed to fight, but I guess she’s the Princess, so…. Oh yeah, that’s right, I don’t remember. Listen, I have no problem with tough lady leads in films, I think it is wrong to think that at all, the problem is this movie exemplifies the main problem when people do this today, where they make the main character flawless and honestly bland. I’m sure many people are tired of hearing comparisons from movies to the Mulan remake from 2020, but like that movie its lead is tough and doesn’t show any, if any, need for improvement, thus I don’t care to see her succeed since, unlike the original movie, Mulan actually shows strength and growth over time, so this is a hero I root for and care for. The whole movie is kind of her fighting through the castle, with flashbacks here or there to show how she got into this situation, which honestly should have been all at the beginning so she feels like a developed character.
