Episode 5: From Jaisalmer Fort to Sam Village – A Journey to the Desert's Heart Date- 10-12-204. After an adventurous train journey on the 20514 Corbett Park Link Express, I finally arrived at Jaisalmer Railway Station late at night, around 1 AM on 10th December 2024, braving the harsh winter chill. From the station, I hired a taxi to the Moustache Hostel, located near the Jaisalmer Fort parking area. This property is an absolute gem, offering breathtaking views of the iconic fort, almost like a golden crown glimmering under the night sky. Settling into my dormitory, I met some fellow travelers and we had a delightful conversation, sharing stories and travel tips. Despite the biting cold, the cozy vibes and camaraderie made it all worthwhile. The next morning, I woke up to mesmerizing views of the fort, bathed in the soft morning sunlight. It was 7 degree temperature. The chill in the air reminded me of Jaisalmer's unforgiving winters. After enjoying a hearty breakfast, I decided to take a bath—unfortunately, in cold water—a decision I regretted later as it triggered some wheezing. A quick outdoor workout helped ease it a bit, but the day was only beginning. While enquiring about desert safaris, I got in touch with the owner of Zostel Jaisalmer. He suggested I shift to Zostel Sam, located in the desert, about 45 kms away and experience their exclusive desert safari camp package. He assured me that my Moustache booking for the night would be adjusted. Intrigued and excited, I accepted the offer. In no time, I packed my belongings, boarded a tempo and set off for Zostel Sam. The journey through the stark yet stunning landscapes of Rajasthan was nothing short of magical. On the way, I had a delightful conversation with Narendra Singh Rajput Ji, a Zostel employee, who shared fascinating insights about the desert region. As the sun began its slow descent, we reached Zostel Sam at around 15.00 hours in the evening time. The property, nestled amidst the golden sands, was a welcoming oasis. After settling into the dormitory and meeting new travelers, I began to feel the excitement building for the next adventure.
