The Serrapeptase protocol, originally developed by Jennifer Tow, is designed for post-op wound care following tongue-tie release. Serrapeptase is an enzyme derived from silkworms that is commonly used for its anti-inflammatory properties and its ability to help break down non-living tissue, making it beneficial for reducing swelling, easing pain, and enhancing the healing process after surgery or injury. We are currently exploring this method in our clinic to effectively manage healing, particularly in patients experiencing excessive wound tightness during the contraction phase. The treatment involves applying a quarter of a capsule of Serrapeptase under the tongue and to any necessary areas, helping to ease contraction and reduce pain and inflammation. Additionally, we are exploring this as an adjunct to myofunctional therapy exercises and stretches, as well as bodywork and 1064 nm laser therapy, all aimed at improving patients in wound healing integration and maturation.
