Crunches with Clicker Training

Kyra's doing back lifts /crunches to make her underline (abs) stronger in order to lift her back. A great exercise for horses who drop their back. Kyra's is been treated by an equine body worker to get the most results for her body. Kyra wasn't walking well and her back was swaying (sags). The body worker did great work and our home work was belly lifts (abs :D ). He showed me how to do it: by placing your fingertips (nails) at the sternum and pushing up. Of course it worked well. He explain it was a reflex, I believe it is a response to an aversive. So I had to figure out another way to communicate what I wanted from Kyra and I did. I used with behaviours we already have on cue (standing square, backing) as foundation for the belly lift. It worked! She now lifts her back about 2 cm in the crunches!
