Candyman is the urban legend that began in Chicago's Cabrini-Green when black artist Daniel Robitaille and his white lover Caroline Sullivan were chased down by a furious landowner and Robitaille was executed on the spot. But something happened that day, and Robitaille's soul was trapped in Sullivan's mirror. Now anyone to utter the name "Candyman" five times into a mirror will face his wrath. In this video I'll be going over the entire history of the Candyman legend, including the life of Daniel Robitaille, as well as a series of others who came to bear the Candyman name, such as Sherman Fields, Anthony McCoy and more. Candyman originally appeared in Clive Barker's short story The Forbidden, but for this analysis I'll be including his cinematic appearances as canon.
