Key points include: 👉🏻The Cash Usage Indicator (CUI) shows a significant decline in cash usage, from 81%-86% in 2021 to 52%-60% in 2024. 👉🏻UPI transactions reached Rs. 25 Lakh Crore by July 2025. 👉🏻Penalties for many cash transactions are 100% of the transaction amount. 👉🏻Section 269SS: Prohibits accepting cash loans, deposits, or payments against immovable property of Rs. 20,000 or more. Exemptions include banking companies, post office savings banks, government corporations, and people earning agricultural income. 👉🏻Section 269ST: Prohibits receiving payments of Rs. 2 Lakh or more per day, per transaction, or for a single event in cash. Exemptions include banking companies, post office savings banks, and cooperative banks. 👉🏻Section 40A (Disallowance as Expenses): Cash payments of Rs. 10,000 or more in a day cannot be deducted as expenses. The limit is increased to Rs. 35,000 for transport/goods carriage hiring. 👉🏻Section 43 (No Depreciation): No depreciation can be claimed on capital expenses if the payment exceeding Rs. 10,000 was made in cash.
