Auxiliary Sends provide some of the most flexible routing options on the no-input mixing board. This includes producing feedback loops that lock into subharmonic divisions of an input signal's frequency, providing highly resonant but non-oscillating channels to 'ping' with pulses from other channels, and constructing cross-modulating feedback loops across interconnected routing paths. This video is part of a series on my approach to the no-input mixing board as a standalone instrument. You can watch all the videos in this series here: • The No-Input Mixing Board: Instrument... As is always the case with feedback instruments, please be careful to protect your ears and equipment if you're going to try experimenting with the NIMB. Don't plug your headphones or speakers directly into the mixing board, and it's best to use something like a limiter in order to set a maximum possible loudness for the output. 0:00 Introduction 0:14 Processing Other Feedback Loops 2:11 Adding Feedback to the Aux Send 3:10 Subharmonic Distortion 5:03 Pinging a Resonant Channel 7:51 Multiple Pulse Rhythms 8:59 Aux Send Cross-Modulation 10:58 Conclusion I'm currently finishing up an album of experimental improvisations with the no-input mixing board, as well as selecting sounds for a NIMB sample pack.
