Lomphat is a baby elephant who was rescued from a snare in the Lumphat Wildlife Sanctuary in Cambodia. She was taken to the Phnom Tamao Wildlife Rescue Center for specialized care. How was Lomphat rescued? Park rangers found Lomphat on December 8, 2024, after she was injured by a snare in her right front leg. The rangers captured her and contacted Wildlife Alliance for help. The Wildlife Alliance and Forestry Administration transferred Lomphat to the Phnom Tamao Wildlife Rescue Center for specialized care. What is Lomphat's condition? Lomphat's leg wound is severe and will take five to six months to heal. She was unable to eat properly and was fed formula every two and a half hours. She was kept in a new enclosure with smaller fences and a shallower pool to keep her safe. What is the future for Lomphat? Lomphat will receive temporary care until she can be safely reintroduced into the wild. She will be fed formula until she is three years old, but will be able to eat other food like vegetables when she is one year old. #adorable elephant #primitive elephant #survival elephant
