Large stich marks following tissue expanders is very common. So there are many ways to treat it. One of the ways to do is the serial excision wherein bits and pieces of the scar slowly till the stich marks disappear. This is a prolonged process which will take 2 or 3 surgeries over a period of 6 to 9 months, each surgery being 3 months apart. The quicker way is to probably to go for a reexpansion where the smaller tissue is expanded and then take away the stich marks. The other option that one has got such large stich marks is to prevent it from happening. When you have a tissue expander done, you over expand so that you do not have any stretch or any tension on the suture line. If you take care of these things then generally then stich marks are not prominent following a tissue expansion. However if a tissue expansion is already done, then you can go in for a serial excision or you can go in for a re tissue expansion which would result in a very nice result.
