This is a 10-minute video of highlights from the June 18, 1968 Major League Baseball game between the Boston Red Sox and the Tigers in Detroit, won by the Tigers, 2-1. It is from WHDH in Boston's broadcast of the game, with Ken Coleman and Ned Martin on play by play and Mel Parnell on analysis. The Tigers' Earl Wilson was just a bit better than the Red Sox' Jose Santiago in this pitcher's duel at the intersection of Michigan and Trumbull. Wilson went eight innings, allowing one earned run and four hits, walking three and striking out seven. Santiago worked seven innings, allowing two runs and six hits, walking two and striking out eight. We see Santiago give up a Jim Northrup RBI double in the first. Then we skip to the whole bottom of the fourth, when Wilson strikes out the side. Santiago gave up an unearned run on a Willie Horton single in the sixth (not seen), and then it's on to the ninth. After Wilson issued a walk and threw a wild pitch, he was relieved by Pat Dobson. He gave up a run-scoring single to Ken Harrelson, and then we pick up the action with Reggie Smith at the plate. Smith singles to send Harrelson to third (when the video ends). But Dobson got a forceout and two strikeouts to end the game. Note: This footage has been out there, but in one file with several other 1968 games. I'm now making each of them a separate entity. Box score in comments. Not copyrighted.
