This change results in marginally increased headroom, an additional half-inch of rear legroom, and elbow width comparable to the S-Class. Both trims feature the 4MATIC AWD powertrain, an improved version of the 9-speed automatic transmission, and either a familiar four-cylinder or inline-six engine, depending on the chosen trim. The MBUX Superscreen pervades all E-Class trims, closely resembling the EQE's standard layout. It showcases a separate driver display melding into the central screen. Two display styles are available: Sporty, targeting driving enthusiasts with red illumination and a central tachometer, and Classic, which is, well, classic. Opting for the MBUX Premium Plus package adds a passenger screen that activates when the passenger seat is occupied. The screen allows full visibility for passengers while remaining concealed from the driver to minimize distraction. In terms of cameras, the E-Class interior can host up to five. The standard configuration includes a mono camera to ensure the driver's eyes remain on the road. Additional options include a stereo camera setup to enhance driver-assist systems, a gesture camera within the overhead control panel for the MBUX Interior Assistant, a dash cam, and a selfie cam designed for on-the-go video conferences. The E-Class also boasts an optional 3D driver display that employs a stereoscopic effect, creating a sense of depth. Another optional feature is Active Ambient Lighting, which syncs soft LED interior lights with the Burmester sound system. Mercedes emphasizes that the E-Class prioritizes software over hardware. Consequently, the sedan runs on a single computer system that accommodates third-party apps. Launch offerings include entertainment apps like Angry Birds, video conferencing apps such as Webex and Zoom, the Vivaldi web browser, and even TikTok—all in addition to vehicle-related functions. To help drivers navigate the plethora of E-Class features, Mercedes has enhanced its voice command system. When driving solo, the "Hey Mercedes" prompt is no longer required. Furthermore, the advanced AI system learns driver routines over time for seamless implementation. Drivers can also establish their own routines, encompassing climate settings, lighting preferences, and more. Amidst the plethora of interior technology, it's easy to overlook that this is, in fact, an automobile. The E-Class retains its signature cab-rearward silhouette, while the front incorporates EQ-inspired design elements, such as the glossy black panel connecting standard LED headlights. A marginally enlarged grille occupies center stage, encircled by chrome or optional LED running lights. Additional options include digital lights with projection capabilities, while the rear features elegant LED taillights adorned with three-pointed star motifs. Flush door handles come standard, and wheel sizes vary from 18 to 21 inches. Beneath the surface, the E-Class offers optional rear-wheel steering, enabling wheels to turn up to 4.5 degrees at speeds under 37 mph. According to Mercedes, this capability shaves nearly three feet off the sedan's turning radius. At greater velocities, the rear wheels can pivot up to 2.5 degrees, enhancing stability, agility, and overall performance.
