Goodnight was originally the third track on the three song EP Your City Gave Me Asthma, the other two being Saline Solution and Jubilee Line. When the EP was adapted into a full album and released in 2020, two songs remained, but Goodnight was lost to the internet. After hearing it, I felt it had potential, but was incomplete. The same weekend I wrote my first song, I took the lyrics and expanded upon the demo that was Goodnight and now, two years later, I feel like sharing what I came up with. Wilbur Soot’s music came to me when I was at my lowest points in life and the memories I have of listening to his music, while not bright ones, help me feel proud of what I’ve risen above and I wish he felt the same way about this song and the album altogether. I meant what I wrote, Wilbur. You inspire me.
