VENICE, CA — Friday, April 25, 2025 — A coordinated multi-agency cleanup operation was conducted Friday at Venice Beach as part of an ongoing citywide initiative to enhance public safety, sanitation, and accessibility at one of Los Angeles' most heavily visited coastal destinations. Personnel from the Los Angeles Park Rangers, Department of Public Works, LA County Beaches and Harbors, and Clean Harbors Environmental Services participated in the effort. Crews in protective gear cleared debris and waste, addressing both hazardous and non-hazardous materials across the beachfront and adjacent public spaces. Enforcement was carried out under Los Angeles Municipal Code 63.44(b), which prohibits camping in city parks and on beaches. Park Rangers issued verbal notices, providing individuals 15 minutes to collect personal belongings prior to removals. No citations were reported during the operation. Park Rangers maintained a security perimeter throughout the sweep to ensure the safety of sanitation workers and the public. The operation proceeded without major incident. Outreach teams from the Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority (LAHSA) were on site, distributing hygiene kits, bottled water, and food to those affected. A representative from Councilwoman Traci Park’s office also observed the cleanup, underscoring the city's commitment to pairing enforcement actions with service-based outreach. City officials emphasized that such efforts are part of a broader strategy to uphold public health standards while connecting unhoused individuals with long-term support and resources. — Santa Monica Closeup continues to document the intersection of enforcement, outreach, and public safety efforts along the Westside’s most visible public spaces.
