And the RB engines are legendary and they make some good power. However, in 2007, Nissan unveiled the then new, long-awaited GT-R at the Tokyo Motor Show. This new GTR no longer featured the RB instead under the hood lied a new engine. The VR38DETT. Now this engine had a lot to live up to. I mean One of the main things that made the older GT-Rs so impressive was their RB26 engines with endless tuning potential. Now in its stock form this 3.8 liter twin turbocharged V6 made 480HP, now since its original inspection that number has been raised 565hp. Now this masterpiece of an engine combined with the 4 wheel drive system meant that this thing was an absolute menace in a straight line. Back when this thing was released, it was the fastest sportscar on the road, and it handed gaps to a few supercars. Now like its predecessors the VR38DETT powered GTR has a massive aftermarket scene. And pushing one of these over a 1000HP isn’t all that difficult. In fact you can buy a 1100HP alpha 10 kit for 63k usd. And with kits like these these cars have quote “OEM Reliability Combined With Record-Breaking Power” and people do daily 1000hp+ GTR’s, there biggest problems are the gearboxes. But what happens when you go all out? when you push the engine to the max? Well let me introduce night terror. This is one of the fastest and most powerful Nissan GT-R drag racers on the planet. Now I will be honest not much of the original GTR remains, but she is still powered by the a highly modified version of the VR38DETT engine. #vr38dett #GTR #nissan
