Ultrasound Features: Both corpus cavernosa & corpus spongiosum appear uniform. Both cavernosal arteries are normal in diameter. Post-papaverine state shows increased systolic flow in cavernosal arteries. Persistent increase in diastolic flow indicating venous leakage. Remember: This may be due to an excessive venous leak from the corpora cavernosa. The exact cause is not known. It is assumed that tunica albuginea stretches beyond the normal limit and thus cannot obliterate the emissary veins draining the sinusoids during the erection. Due to the inadequate compression of emissary veins the venous outflow is continuous & erection is never fully obtained. A venous leak is suspected when persistent high diastolic flow is seen in the cavernosal arteries & the diastolic flow is more than 5 cm/sec. Thank you for watching. Share with your friends.
