We begin our Hope series by laying a strong foundation: hope for the believer. In this talk, Jo explores what biblical hope really is. Not wishful thinking or optimism based on circumstances, but “the joyful anticipation of good”, rooted in who God is and what He has done. Using the image of a diamond, Jo describes hope as something that often works behind the scenes, reflecting light outward in every season of life. Drawing from 2 Thessalonians 2 and Romans 15, we’re reminded that hope is a Trinitarian gift: • God the Father, whose character is compassionate, faithful, and trustworthy • Jesus the Son, our anchor, whose saving work secures our future and inheritance • The Holy Spirit, who fills us again and again with peace, joy, and confidence when life is hard Jo shares honestly from personal experience, showing how hope doesn’t remove pain or struggle, but sustains us through it. Even in grief, disappointment, and unanswered questions, hope keeps us rooted in God rather than circumstances, guarding our hearts from bitterness and fear. This message is especially for anyone asking: • Am I really living in hope? • How do I hold on to hope when life doesn’t go to plan? A gentle, honest, and deeply grounding start to our Hope series.
