It is important to measure urinary output for some patients. Urine is excreted by the kidneys and the amount, color, and clarity of urine can be an indication of many potential problems (Ex. dehydration, infection, kidney stones, etc...). Normal urine output is 1 to 2mL/hour. The CNA will measure and record the amount of urine a resident produces. This video demonstrates the propers steps when performing the "Measures and Records Urinary Output" skill of the CNA examination.
