Derry ~ Londonderry is a city located in the north-west of Northern Ireland, close to the border with the Republic of Ireland (and County Donegal). Like throughout the rest of Northern Ireland, Translink operate the bus services in and around the city. However, the city services operate under the Foyle Metro branding (Belfast being the other city in Northern Ireland to use the Metro brand for its city bus services). Foyle Metro has the distinction of having an all-electric fleet provided by Wrights, with the buses painted in a unique red livery. However other buses can occasionally make an appearance on city services. For example, an Ulsterbus Scania Wrights Solar appears in this video on city route 1A. Some Foyle Metro buses also appear on local services that go beyond the city boundaries to other towns in the area. Ulsterbus also operate some similar electric buses on more local services, alongside traditional diesel buses. Goldliner operate the long distance services to Coleraine, Belfast and Dublin. Foyle Street is the centre of bus activity in the city, with the Buscentre located there. The city services serve bus stops on the street outside. Across the river is the Northwest Transport Hub, where the railway line from Belfast terminates. It is well served by a variety of bus routes, and is where this video starts. There are also a variety of connections to the Republic of Ireland that also appear in this video. First Aircoach provide a service to Dublin that goes via Belfast. Bus Eireann operate long-distance services to Donegal, Sligo and Galway, as well as more local service to Donegal. Local Link also provide services to Donegal. Finally, two separate bus companies both called McGonagles operate services to Buncrana. This video was recorded over two days at the start of September.
