Very Big Incident: Jharkhand Health Minister Irfan Ansari On Air Ambulance Crash—Confirms One Dead

A chartered air ambulance crashed in Chatra district of Jharkhand on the evening of 23 February 2026, claiming at least one life. The aircraft, operated by Redbird Airways Private Limited, took off from Birsha Munda Airport in Ranchi at around 7 pm and was en route to Delhi when it lost contact with Air Traffic Control at approximately 7.34 pm. Jharkhand Health Minister Irfan Ansari confirmed the crash, stating, 'We had a chartered ambulance. We send the patient from one place to another.' He added that heavy rains and storms caused the plane to lose ATC support. The wreckage was found in a forested area in Chatra. Seven people were on board, including two pilots—Captain Vivek Vikas Bhagat and Captain Sarwadeep Singh—a paramedic team, a female attendant, and patients. Ansari, who was en route to the crash site, said, 'This is a very big incident for Jharkhand.
