Footage from Myanmar's capital, Naypyitaw, showed widespread destruction. The extent of damage raised fears that many were trapped under the rubble or killed. Myanmar’s government said blood was in high demand in the hardest-hit areas. The 7.7 magnitude quake had an epicenter near Mandalay in Myanmar. It struck at midday local time and was followed by a strong 6.4 magnitude aftershock.
