Abschied, für 20 Flöten

I composed this for "Flute Days NRW 2023" by the initiative of Prof. André Sebald, who contacted the composition department to see if something could done specially for this unusual ensemble. Mr. Sebald also conducted the piece in its premiere. This video, kindly recorded by Luis Goemans, shows the premiere at the Partikasaal of the Robert Schumann Hochschule. My composition process began in before March 2023, but due to personal circumstances, all composing was halted until the Autumn of 2023. The piece was delivered in its final version, I think, by September 2023. The name means "Farewell". I chose this title since Mr. Sebald was bound to retire after a fruitful and successful 30+ years of teaching. Later it became a personal bow to my own life.
