Erik, the Asian Movie Enthusiast presents: An introduction to my Takashi Miike Filmography Review. So it’s finally here – the Takashi Miike filmography review. I’m going to cover 86 movies that this man directed, in chronological order, over a series of videos. This is going to be very similar to my Asian Horror Year-In-Review Playlist, because I’m going to provide a brief mini-review of each film, following by some information on availability. In theory, you should gain a greater knowledge of Miike’s filmography while at the same time receiving just enough info on each individual film so that you can decide on which films you may want to check out yourself. If you want more in-depth coverage over this man’s movies, check out the Tom Mes book “Agitator: The Cinema of Takashi Miike.” This is a 400+ page book that goes into great detail on the themes that are present in this man’s films. It also covers, in detail, every single film that Miike directed up to Deadly Outlaw Rekka from 2002. Then, after you’re done reading that book, you can move on to “Re-Agitator”, which is not a direct continuation but does have quite a bit of coverage over Miike’s post-2002 filmography. And of course, you can check out the Midnight Eye website for more reviews on this man. http://www.midnighteye.com/ Stay tuned. Part 1 of the Filmography Review drops this Friday and more parts will be forthcoming. Similar to my Asian Horror Playlist, I’m hoping to contribute a Takashi Miike playlist that you will not find anywhere else on YouTube.
