For every fight, there was at least 1 thing that went wrong. Blue Key Fight: -Semi Bad Movement leading to getting trapped between enemies -Wasted too much Chaingun ammo in the beginning Yellow Key Fight: -Fell off the platform. There's only 1 teleporter, so I had to run all the way to that side with the teleporter Red Key Fight: -Wasted too much Cells in the fight which caused me ran out for the Cybers (Didn't lose that much time tbh) (Honestly, the Yellow Key and Red Key fights overall went well) Final Fight: -Not aggressive enough, and too passive -2nd Cyberdemon didn't spawn in until later (This meant, the 2nd Cyber couldn't infight as soon as possible) -Semi bad BFG Shots This was only my 2nd attempt and the 1st attempt I reset cause of bad movement at the very beginning. So I can definitely do much better if I grinded more. I did E1M5-E1M7 back-to-back(ish) with some minor breaks in between, so I'm probably a bit fatigued. The fights are easy enough where the mistakes I did make, didn't cause me to die but just lose time. I'm still submitting this because I don't want to overthink about "being as optimized as possible" too much. I might re-do this one? But honestly I'm still satisfied enough. The map itself is not bad, like every other map lol. Definitely not my favorite and I feel a bit above average on it. I don't like it as much as E1M6 and I think that's because I didn't feel as engaged. The fights are creative and well made as usual. There is a bit more emphasis on monster herding, which isn't a bad thing but I think my main issue is that most of the fights have small annoying issues that don't make them feel as smooth as some of the other fights in previous/following maps. I don't even think the issue is the lack of monster variety. The monsters used and placements are still effective and I was never bothered by the Doom I monster roster. The final fight in particular is annoying just because of the terrain. There's a bunch of random decorations that block your path and a bunch of varying sector heights. As you know, there's no air strafing in Doom, so trying to fight on "stairs" isn't fun just cause every time you leave the floor, your momentum gets carried over in the air and you can't adjust your movement while airborne. Not to mention the "hill" where your resources are, which isn't a bad design but you can only climb it on 1 side, meaning if you're in the lava you can't climb that hill and must either go back to the regular terrain or take the lift. Overall this makes the arena awkward to fight in. Trying to kill the Cyberdemons in the Red Key and the Yellow Key fights are also not that great. They're in awkward positions and when you finish the fight, there's no convenient way to deal with them. The Yellow Key Cyberdemon specifically, and not because of the small platform, but because of the Caco corpses placed there makes it hard to see and the random Baron Turret doesn't add anything and seems to be placed there just to be an annoyance. The 20 damaging floor that appears everywhere in the map is a bit overkill, mainly due to how often you need to step into the lava to progress or just stepping into the lava due to how the arenas are designed. I think the damaging floors are fine, but I don't think they needed to be 20 damaging. Overall though, the fights are still fun, good, and well designed. Just has a bunch of a small issues here and there. I think the atmosphere and the way the map becomes more corrupt as you progress is really well done and adds a lot to the story. Don't get me wrong, I still really enjoyed this map.
