What were the world's wild places like, before we changed them forever? Set along the Kayan River in Indonesian Borneo, "A River Out of Time" considers the environmental costs of expanding our world of comfort and connection. With Indonesia’s new capital now under construction, the region is slated for massive development. Residents await the roads and electricity that a new dam promises. But in return, they will lose their homes, livelihoods and way of life along the Kayan River. "A River Out of Time" explores the pervasive sense of uncertainty that surges alongside rapid global expansion and today’s ongoing climate crisis. Through a visually stunning portrait of the Kayan River and the vibrant life along its banks, "A River Out of Time" is a meditation on progress and development, documenting a fleeting moment before a great change. Co-produced by Roger M. Richards, Kate Beddall and H. Léo Kim, "A River Out of Time" captures the Kayan in its waning days as a wild river, through the cinematography of Hadi Ahdiana, an original score by Dayak musician Fery Sape and narration by voice actor Emiko Saraswati Susilo.
