Morning Bible Devotion: Zechariah 7

Pastor Tim of Grace and Truth Church reads a chapter of scripture from the Bible to seek Jesus in the known and to see Him reveal the unknown. We see the cultural, historical and faith perspectives of the passages and how the Word of GOD is as vibrant and relevant today as when lived so long ago. Zechariah 7: An envoy of powerful men from Bethel come to the temple to ask about religious obligations in the fifth month. Men from Israel who would not have been native Jews (as evidenced by their names). GOD responds with a harsh and challenging question. A question posed to ALL of the people of Jerusalem, Judah and Israel. We see a powerful view repeated of what GOD sees as important, obedience. GOD would rather mercy for the widow (missing husband), the orphan (missing parent(s)), the stranger (missing clan/kin), and the poor. A deep lesson for us today. As always, you decide.
