Home to ancient temples like Kadri Shree Manjunatha Temple and Shree Sharavu Mahaganapathi Temple, this city is steeped in legends and history. In fact, it gets its name from the Goddess Mangaladevi. Also known as Kudla, Kodiyal, and Mangalapuram, this place is home to diverse communities from the South of India. So along with temples, it is also dotted with historic churches like St. Aloysius Chapel and Milagres Church, drawing thousands of visitors. The city’s vast coastline is home to some of the cleanest and most scenic beaches in the state, including Panambur, Tannirbhavi, and Someshwara, where golden sands meet crystal-clear waters. It is a paradise for seafood lovers with dishes like bangude pulimunchi and anjal fry, and it also has Pure vegetarian eateries with equally unique offerings. Amongst which are a few irresistible delights like goli bajji (goli baje), Mangalore buns, ghee roast, and the ever-popular Gadbad ice cream. The city's cuisine is influenced by its different communities like the Konkani Hindu community, Mangalorean Catholics, Beary Muslims, etc which make it a diverse culinary gem. It is just a few hours away from Udupi and Chikkamagaluru.
