We will visit Koishiwara, a small village surrounded by forestry and mountains with a river running through it, all of which combine to make it the perfect location for its most famous export, Koishiwara Pottery. We will experience the traditional methods of making pottery that skilled craftspeople in the region still employ today. After attempting to make some pottery ourselves and learning about the authentic patterns used, let's look at some professionally made pottery ware. Next, in the city of crafts, we will experience Kurume Kasuri. This traditional textile involves dying material in indigo and is still popular today for clothes, bags, and other goods. The weavers here pass on the region's traditional indigo dyeing and hand weaving methods as they continue to meticulously produce stunning textiles.
