Hubbard took over in the extra period, opening overtime with a basket and later completing a three-point play with 2:05 left to give the Bulldogs a 96–90 lead. Texas answered with a quick response as Tramon Mark knocked down a three, then stole the ball and scored to cap a 6–0 run that tied the game with 51 seconds remaining. Mississippi State turned back to Hubbard when it mattered most. After a timeout, he drilled a go-ahead three with 12 seconds left, then calmly sank two free throws with six seconds remaining. Simeon Wilcher’s potential tying three at the buzzer missed, securing the Bulldogs’ fifth straight win. Hubbard set the tone early, scoring 20 points in the first half to help Mississippi State take a 48–43 lead into the break. He finished 10-of-31 from the field with six three-pointers and went 12-of-15 at the line. Jayden Epps added 27 points and five assists, while Achor Achor provided a spark off the bench with 10 points and 13 rebounds. Texas battled throughout and nearly closed it out late in regulation. The Longhorns grabbed their first lead since early in the game when Chendall Weaver hit a three to make it 66–65 with nine minutes remaining. After Epps tied it at 73, Jordan Pope’s layup helped Texas build an 86–79 lead with just over two minutes to play. Mississippi State responded behind Hubbard once again. He hit a three to cut the deficit to two, then Brandon Walker tipped in a Hubbard miss with 17 seconds left to tie the game at 86. Pope missed a potential game-winner with two seconds remaining, sending the contest to overtime. Dailyn Swain led Texas with career highs of 34 points and 14 rebounds before fouling out. Mark scored 20 points, and Matas Vokietaitis added 19.
