Both chose Kenny Irwin, Jr., a soft-spoken Indianapolis native and USAC Series star, to compete for Rookie of the Year in the NASCAR Winston Cup Series. Here, I describe the events that led up to that moment, plus his NASCAR career with both Robert Yates Racing and, later, with Felix Sabates at Team SABCO.
