Canyoning in Switzerland - Lodrino Intermedio & Inferiore, Riviera, Ticino

Lodrino is one of the most impressive canyons in the Ticino Kanton of Switzerland. The flow is never truly low and can quickly become too high. If the weather allows for it however, Lodrino offers beautiful rappels, high jumps, and awesome slides. Some whitewater knowledge is highly recommended in this canyon! Before you go, check the water level in the village at the exit of the canyon (46°18'02.9"N 8°58'38.9"E). As always in Ticino, make sure to use rope-protective techniques when abseiling due to the sharpness of the edges. The Inferiore part can be done without the Intermedio part. Lower Parking: 46°18'08.2"N 8°58'38.9"E (please respect the village and its cemetery and do not get changed here). Upper Parking: 46°17'52.1"N 8°58'23.9"E (make sure you leave the center heli-pad clear for a potential helicopter to land!) Ascent: From the upper parking area follow the small path up through the forest until you reach a clearing. In the clearing keep left (blue arrow) and follow this path until you reach and cross a bridge over the canyon. After the bridge, count 6 U-turns and then take a right. This path leads you to the entry of Intermedio. Descent: Beautiful rappels up to 50 m high, sharp-edged rock, high jumps, slides, and a lot of water. (1,5 - 2 h Intermedio, 2 - 3 h Inferiore) The way back: you exit where you checked the water level. From here, make your way back to the cemetery. (5 min) #canyoning #gopro #adventure
