The UPOD team is a multidisciplinary innovation team located in the Central Diagnostic Laboratory that is aimed at (re)using routine care data to improve diagnostics. The backgrounds of our team members range from cell biology and mathematics to pharmacy and medicine, but we all love computers. The research we do is simply impossible without collaboration. Our team curates the Utrecht Patient Oriented Database of electronic health record data, makes these data available in a meaningful way, models the data (using AI if needed) and implements these insights into clinical diagnostic decision support systems to support shared decision making in the clinic. For every specific clinical problem, we work together with an ad hoc project team involving healthcare professionals and patients to determine and evaluate the clinical value of our research and solutions. We're excited about the work we do and are eager to continue making a positive impact in healthcare!
