The Museum of the Mazovian Nobility in Ciechanów is a place where regional history meets the present. For over 50 years, we have been researching, protecting, and promoting the cultural heritage of Northern Mazovia, with a special focus on the traditions of the Polish nobility. Our museum is spread across three unique locations: in Ciechanów, on Zamkowa Street, stands the Castle of the Mazovian Dukes, dating back to the turn of the 13th and 14th centuries. The second site in Ciechanów is the Exhibition Building on Warszawska Street — a building dating from the wartime period as a cooperative bank. The Museum also has a branch in Gołotczyzna, near Ciechanów. It houses Poland’s only Museum of Positivism, dedicated to Aleksander Świętochowski, all set within a picturesque manor-and-park complex. The past year was a time of intensive work, growth, and investment for the Museum, marked by numerous opportunities to engage with our visitors. Our annual calendar featured beloved outdoor events, such as: Meetings with History, Garden Flowers, May Music-making, The Review of Carnival Troupes, and the Nobility Gathering. Music also filled our halls with the "World Music in a Mazovian Manor" concert series, as well as two performances held as part of the second Mazovia Romantica Festival. In 2025, we curated exhibitions that explored both regional history and a broader cultural context. These included: "Northern Mazovia in the Era of Bolesław the Brave’s Coronation," and "To Marshal Józef Piłsudski (1867–1935) – on the 90th anniversary of his death." A particular highlight was the exhibition "In the Circle of Baroque Art," featuring collections from the Museum of the Lublin Archdiocese. Visitors can also currently enjoy "Snow in Polish Painting of the 19th and 20th Centuries," which opened last December and will remain on display until June 22nd of this year. In October, the museum also hosted an academic conference titled "In the Circle of Baroque Art," which served as a tribute to the eminent scholar Professor Juliusz Chrościcki and brought together leading experts in the field. We were also delighted by the high level of interest in our "My Mazovia" competition, which this year focused on the region's historic wooden churches. Alongside our cultural program, and thanks to the support of the Mazovian Voivodeship Self-Government, we have moved forward with vital investments. We continued the construction of the Central Collection Storehouse, began the restoration of the Exhibition Building on Warszawska Street, and secured contracts for new equipment. We have also finalized the documentation for our upcoming projects. These initiatives are essential for the safety of our collections and the continued growth of our museum. We invite you to step into the heart of Mazovian heritage and experience firsthand the stories that continue to shape our region. We look forward to welcoming you to the Museum of the Mazovian Nobility very soon.
