Thoughts: Keycaps robbed from the Bauer for the time being, don't have another spare PBT set. The board looks good and lives up to the name for the most part, I think it would look (and feel) better with a higher degree angle but still looks nice (just a bit squished/flat), cherry lip yay. The bottom of it looks neat with the giant footer, that somehow doesn't feel like it has too much desk transfer either. I don't use the RGB on it so I don't have much to say about that. Matching could be better with the cap set, I previously had black snail on here and it was nice, but felt this build was better with PBT. This is a nice feeling and sounding board, although I don't think it's as high value as some of the other boards I've tried around this price point, but still worth consideration. I think first off as things I'd change, I'd maybe go with a better mount if possible, gasket sock is cheap and effective but just feels more uninspired compared to some other mount types in comparison. I also think getting rid of the mount points under the spacebar is more comfortable and gives a cleaner sound. The standoffs soldered to the pcb is a disappointment, they do negatively impact the feel and aren't needed if built properly, so that's something I'd also like to see removed. This leads to a more dull but also harsh bottom out when the gasket gives more that while good just feels like there's more work that should be done to it. Not sure how to explain it, but it's stiffer in a "is it supposed to be like this?" way at first, but something you could maybe warm up to. I had tried alu plate, but I think it showcased more of the limitations of the board, PC meshed better with both feel and sound being more balanced with a bit softer bottom out and less vibration transfer. I think after giving it a try with a variety of switches, it was most at home with tactiles for my builds as I thought most non long pole linears were kinda dull, and overly long pole linears were too harsh on the bottom out, tactile brought out a nice balance of clean sound and liveliness without being as harsh. Gateron beers are an interesting switch, a more noticeable rounded tactile bump but with a lighter spring, it is on the thinner and more plasticy sounding and feeling side of things (also some tick and ping), but with PBT and the PC plate in this build I think that helped mask that. Not sure if I'd like these switches in most of my other builds here. It just lead to a nice and crisp and noticeable tactile despite being lighter on weight, and is a fun board to type on. Overall, not sure, this board is quite nice with some builds, not with others, not as universal as something like a transition lite or tiger lite for a tkl, but with the right build might be more compelling than either of those 2. Oh and I didn't really test foam, maybe it would've softened up when filled with that, and also this might be the best implementation of a silicone weight I've tried, it works nicely with the sound of the board and I prefer it with over without in most cases. This last part I'll just talk about the stabs, Typeplus stabs are quite cool for being super consistent and low fuss, I do think they feel and sound worse than cherry stabs despite being more even/consistent (just my preference), but I haven't tried another stab that has just truly worked out of the box without tuning so props to them on that. I guess it just feels kinda dull and cheaper in keypress than a well tuned cherry stab, but it's evenness and smoothness are something I could absolutely see someone prefer depending on their preferences. Neat to have a truly no hassle stab option. Build: Novelkeys Classic TKL - Black PC Sock Gasket Mount (no spacebar point, no standoff screws) Gateron Beer Typeplus x YIKB 1.6mm FR4 Hotswap Silicone Weight Hammerworks CRP Xerox 6001 Equipment: Josephson C716 → Crane Song Flamingo.1 → Prism Lyra 2 / Neumann U87i (Thiersch Reskin) → Flamingo → Lyra / Nikon D5500 C716 head level, from seating position, on axis centered alphas, cardioid pattern, decoupled. U87i head level, directly above board, on axis, cardioid, partially coupled. Max -1db peak (excluding camera), no further processing. C716 is accurate and honest to typing in person to my ear, extremely sensitive though. U87i is also honest but slight sweetness and grandness with slight grit, reskin and mods add some clarity and slight treble boost at cost of smoothness, direct overhead for different perspective and how most people record their boards. Crappy cam mic cause why not. Bad IKEA slab into acoustic membrane on concrete (slightly hollow and thinner sounding, weighted down with heavy equipment, isolated from floor) Aiglatson Studio Synchronize Jacquard (thicker and slightly stiffer, partially isolates from desk)
