A major milestone has just taken place in the Philippines’ maritime and defense industry! 🚢🇵🇭 On August 7, 2025, Korean HD Hyundai Heavy Industries officially began operations inside the former Hanjin shipyard in Subic, Zambales—now called the Agila Subic Shipyard. During a special media tour organized by WSP Inc. for Agila Subic Compass, journalists from Manila and the local press saw firsthand how the 310-hectare facility has been revitalized into a modern, multi-use shipbuilding hub. Once the largest shipyard in Southeast Asia, the site is now alive again—this time under one of the world’s leading shipbuilders. Photos from the event reveal Filipino workers fabricating ship hulls using advanced Hyundai technology. This marks the beginning of a new era for local shipbuilding, with the project expected to generate 10,000 jobs by 2027 and attract investments of up to $1 billion USD. The Agila Subic Shipyard is also home to the Philippine Navy, giving it direct access to world-class facilities for ship repairs, upgrades, and potentially the assembly of future naval vessels. This development could significantly speed up and enhance the Navy’s future frigate acquisitions from HD Hyundai and streamline maintenance for the existing Jose Rizal-class frigates. Strategically located near the West Philippine Sea, Subic’s new role as a shipbuilding and repair hub will strengthen the country’s maritime security, boost economic growth, and promote defense self-reliance. This is not just a comeback for Subic—it’s the start of a new chapter in the Philippines’ maritime and defense capabilities. #madeinthephilippines #HDHyundaiPhilippines #AgilaSubicShipyard #SubicShipyard #PhilippineNavy #JoseRizalClass #FrigateProject #WestPhilippineSea #PhilippineDefense #ShipbuildingPhilippines #HDHyundai #SubicZambales #HanjinShipyard #DefenseUpdatesPH #NavalModernization #PhilippinesKorea #MaritimeSecurityPH #JobCreationPH #MilitaryNewsPH #PhilippineMaritime #DefenseIndustryPH ⚠️ Disclaimer: This video is intended for educational and informational purposes only.
