The work piece highlighted in this video is a competitive wheelchair built from 3/2.5 titanium. High end competitive wheelchairs are often built from titanium (rather than aluminum) for the materials high strength to weight ratio. The weld in question was the original weld and was decent, but did not penetrate as much as it should have, not to mention this chair has seen some competitive abuse. The Setup: When you are TIG welding Titanium, it is important that you have gas purging the weld from all sides. There are many ways to achieve this, but in this video you will see one of the easiest and most affordable ways get started in welding titanium.
