TEFL jobs in Thailand are plentiful but you still need to master the basics if you want to get an interview. With a that in mind, let's look at TEFL Campus Phuket's 6 Tips for Finding TEFL Jobs in Thailand. (Read the blog entry here: https://teflcampus.com/six-tips-on-fi...) 1st tip: Build professional knowledge. Thailand might be the perfect country for finding entry-level TEFL jobs, but even then, you're going to have to have some basic professional knowledge. If you have TEFL training and/or experience, let that come through in your CV/resume, in your cover letter, and in interviews as well. If you don't, that's actually where a training course such as ours does come into play and we guarantee our comprehensive, lifetime job support. 2nd tip: Know the culture. Thais are famous for their quiet tolerance of foreigners and their potential cultural faux pas, but you're going to want to make sure that your potential employer knows that you have some semblance of understanding of Thai culture for that all important first impression. You needn't speak Thai fluently or even be able to construct a whole sentence, but you're going to want to know basic greetings and how to do a good Thai wai (traditional greeting). 3rd tip: Look the part. This is one of the most common complaints from employers that I know. We get so many people showing interviews for TEFL jobs, looking more like they're ready for the beach or for a night out in the town than they are for an interview. Appearance goes a long way in Thailand. If you look the part, you are the part. You could be the best teacher in the world, but if you're not looking right, they may have a little bit of an issue accepting that fact. Help yourself out, look the part. 4th tip: Proofread everything. You're about to interview for a TEFL job--where English is everything. You got to have everything correct. This means correct spelling, correct capitalization, punctuation, whatever it is, it had better be correct. You're going to need to find somebody to help you with this stuff as well. It's really difficult to find your own errors in your own work, so find a friend, find a family member, even find a professional organization who has a keen eye for this kind of stuff. 5th Tip: Be proactive. One of the most common things I hear from folks approaching us and emailing us is, "Hey, I'm looking for TEFL jobs in Phuket, and I don't seem to find any advertised. Can you help me?" Meanwhile, I'm getting emails from employers on a weekly basis with their vacancies. A lot of employers just simply don't have the time to get that out on and list their vacancies out on the web. They've got a position. They need to fill it, but they're scrambling around, and they can't put two and two together. You've got to get out there and proactively let them know that you're looking for a job. As well, the best TEFL jobs in Thailand, particularly on Phuket, aren't advertised. They're found by word of mouth. They're found through personal connections and networking. You're going to have to get out there and, again, be proactive. Sign up to Facebook groups that are dedicated to TEFL jobs in Thailand. Get your CV or your resume out on some job databases such as ajarn.com, teachingthailand.com. 6th tip: Apply in person. It might sound scary to come on over, come to a foreign land to just start looking for jobs, but this really is the best way to find TEFL jobs in Thailand. If you rely on CVs and resumes sent via email, you're going to lose out on lots of different opportunities. Thai employers really want to see you in the flesh. They want to assess you out in person. They want to get a feel for who you are. They want to know that you're here and committed to working in Thailand. (Read the blog entry here: https://teflcampus.com/six-tips-on-fi...)
