Desktop, Kitchen, or bedroom nightstand. I am working on a spot by the Television the cat will not kick off in the floor so it is visible around the TV room. This does not come with batteries or power adapter so at first it was a bit of an adventure. On installing batteries I got a faint little beep and no display. First with rechargeable AAA batteries then with some Duracell alkylin reading in the good range. Looking around in the old cable box I had a left over USB2A-barrel cable left over from a small LED lamp that had a bad day and ended life as a dog chew toy. On installing the cable and plugging it into a standard USB2 charging port the display came to life, and I was able to continue to fiddle with the settings. The settings are simple enough to negotiate. Power the weather station, then power the outdoor remote with minimal delay. Your weather station will accomodate three remotes. the remote has a channel selector switch with test button in the battery compartment. Manually toggle through them with the buttons on teh face of the weather station. The time clock will adjust for 24H time if you wish, and accomodate three different alarms. You may also alarm minimum maximum temperature readings. This could be important for plants in your greenhouse like orchids. If you have a signal available in your area this will keep time from the atomic clock. If you have a signal, on power up you will see a small antennae icon in the upperright corner of the clock section, In settings you may adjust for your time zone and DST status. The station is also selectable for temperature readings in Celcius or Farenheit at a touch of a button. This is a fun little item to bring you up to speed on what to expect in the way of your basic environment. I have really enjoyed it so far.
