The way we speak to ourselves - Exploring Self Talk through Yoga Therapy. In this video, I explore the role of self-talk and self-compassion within Yoga Therapy, based on my clinical observations, case studies, and project-specific questionnaires. Across sessions, I noticed recurring patterns in how clients spoke to themselves and how these inner dialogues seemed to influence their experience, behavior, and sense of pressure or ease. These observations became the starting point for this final project. The video brings together three strands: existing research on self-talk, self-compassion, and stress regulation; observations from Yoga Therapy sessions; and self-reported experiences from participants. Rather than aiming to prove causality, the project looks at how these elements relate to one another and how Yoga Therapy may be associated with increased awareness of self-talk, softer inner dialogue, and changes in daily behavior, while also acknowledging that these shifts develop gradually and remain context dependent. This project was created as a final project for The Yoga Therapy Institute and is intended to contribute to ongoing conversations about how Yoga Therapy can support clients in working with inner dialogue, stress, and self-compassion in a careful and clinically grounded way.
