How to install package bees ordered from Mann Lake that come in the plastic BeeBus. This package contained Carniolan bees from OHB. **Recap** 1) Remove the 4 central frames from your hive. 2) Remove plastic covering over feed can. 3) Lightly spray both sides of the package with sugar water. 4) Quickly and firmly tap the package down to knock all of the bees to the bottom of the package 5) Remove the feed can. 6) Remove the queen and replace the plastic cover onto the top of the package. 7) Brush bees off of the queen cage into your hive. 8) Carefully remove the cork without letting the queen out and cover the opening with your finger ( Tip: wait until the queen is facing away from the cork) 9) Quickly move your finger and stuff a mini marshmallow into the queen cage opening. (Tip: Once again watch the queen and wait for her to be facing away from the opening) 10) Once again quickly and firmly tap the package down to knock all of the bees to the bottom of the package. 11) Use your hive tool to pry the tabs on the short side of the package. 12) Open the end of the package and face down into your hive. 13) Firmly and quickly tap the opposite end of the hive knocking the bees out of the package and into your hive. 14-A) New Frames: use a thumbtack to secure the metal tab of the queen cage to the top bar of one of your center frames so that the queen cage will hang down between the two center frames. 14-B) Used Frames with Drawn comb: Press the queen cage into the center of the frame just under the top bar with the screen of the queen cage facing down. 15) Place the center frames with the queen into the hive. 16) Place your top cover onto the hive and insert your entrance reducer using the smallest opening. Note: Be sure that you have some sort of feed for your new bees. In our case we had some honey in the end frames but if you are using all brand new frames be sure to install a feeder with sugar water/syrup. We also recommend placing some pollen patties in the hive as well. For more information as well as recipes, tips and useful links be sure to visit our website: www.myneighborshive.com
