February 28th is World Spay Day. In honor, the Arizona Humane Society has been providing $20 spay/neuter surgeries to cats and dogs all month long thanks to a group of generous donors. Each year, AHS provides more than 12,500 spay and neuter surgeries for Arizona's most vulnerable pets. Did you know spay and neuter surgeries not only help control our homeless pet crisis, but there are health benefits to having your pet spayed or neutered? Spaying female pets prevents uterine infections and decreases mammary tumors, which are malignant cancers in 50% of dogs and 90% of cats. Neutering male pets prevents testicular cancer, some prostate problems, and often has an impact on his behavior, making him less aggressive and less likely to roam.
