Dedicated to Dialogue resonates at Lindsey Wilson College. Friends, welcome to the grand finale of our year long observance of Beethoven@250. Our year has featured: 1.) A fabulous arrangement of Beethoven’s Joyful, Joyful We Adore Thee (from the 9th Symphony) performed on the LWC Singers tour; 2.) The 32 piano sonatas in 32 days (April 1 - May 2) 3.) The podcast: Unlocking the Leadership Legacy of Beethoven@250, available at • Unlocking the Leadership Legacy of Be... And now (...drumroll, please), we are proud to present the grand finale of this series. Researching documents in our archives reveal the role of Beethoven’s music in two extremely significant events in the life of our institution. These events are: 1.) The inauguration of Dr. William T. Luckey, Jr. as the eighth president of the College, and 2.) The College Centennial Celebration. The music of Beethoven was present at both occasions. The Inaugural Week Concert was October 2, 2000. The Centennial Celebration spanned the 2003-2004 academic year. And now, enter Dr. Robert Reynolds. He connects these formal festivities of the Inauguration and the Centennial. His sparkling performance of Beethoven’s 4th Piano Concerto highlighted the Inaugural Week. In like fashion, Dr. Reynolds provided a stunning performance of Beethoven’s 5th Piano Concerto, The Emperor, as the exemplary moment for our Centennial. Dedicated to Dialogue was a musical motif for the printed concert programs, serving as descriptive foundational pillars for our work in scholarly life. We are honored to share with you today Dr. Reynolds performance of Beethoven’s 5th Piano Concerto. Listen in and allow his performance to be a reminder of the triumphant character of the human spirit.
