Despite the nature of 2020, plenty of people were still visiting. I filmed deliberately on a Monday to avoid the worst of the crowds and to be able to see as much as possible. We start on the West End at Lions Head Village and make our way east to the main Vail Village area. The Lions Head area has a couple of very nice hotels and restaurants as well as some pools, spas, and playgrounds. You can catch a lift there or take the free shuttle over to the main village. I chose to walk, of course. They have a hospital between the two villages and lots of condos and vacation homes. Of course, there are lots of restaurants, bars, ski shops, gear rental places, and bars too. I really liked the fact that the walking trail ambles along the creek and offers some very pleasant solitude. The base sits around 8000 feet of elevation.
