The Transfiguration marks an important point in Matthew's Gospel because it occurs six days after Peter's great confession 'You are the Christ the Son of the Living God.' Thus, it occurs on the seventh day from this great confession, and it prepares His disciples for the scandal of the Cross. Indeed, Jesus was transfigured and His disciples saw a glimpse of His glory, all of this occurred as He made His way to Jerusalem, on His journey to the Cross.
