The West Is Straining Under Late-Stage Capitalism — Not Immigration. What people call “collapse due to immigration” is really the visible strain of a profit system that has reached the point where there is nothing left to extract except from its own citizens. When capitalism matures, growth slows; instead of creating value, it begins to monetise and degrade what already exists — from public transport to entertainment to housing to basic services. The UK feels it earlier than the US because a service-led economy hits the ceiling first; you cannot endlessly financialise or subscription-ise services without destroying their quality. Meanwhile, China’s 20-year rise vs. the West’s 20-year stagnation shows that once capitalism matures, state-managed models may outperform it. The demonisation of communism for state violence ignores a simple truth: violence and authoritarianism are features of bad governments, not unique to any ideology — just as slavery, Jim Crow, Native genocide and the Iraq war are not “capitalism” but the actions of states under capitalism. Today’s billionaires are not getting rich by solving problems (like Microsoft did); they get rich by enclosing things that used to be free — football, TV, trains — and selling them back to us at monopoly prices. In the UK, nearly nothing is worth what people pay: not the trains, not the roads, not the housing, not the hospitals, not the schools. Even visitors from poorer countries leave shocked at how underwhelming and overpriced everything is. That is not immigration — that is late-stage capitalism eating itself. --- HASHTAGS #LateStageCapitalism #PoliticalEconomy #CostOfLivingCrisis #UKEconomy #Neoliberalism #Austerity #Privatisation #MarketFailure #GlobalEconomics #StateManagedEconomies #CapitalismCrisis #AntiImmigrationMyth #Inequality #PublicServicesCrisis #Financialisation #WestVsChina #SystemicDecline #EconomicReality #NotImmigration
