Hey guys, I’m happy to invite my friend Noé Codjia on the trumpet today. Noé and I got friends on a tour in Belgium about 5 years ago, and we now share at least 2 regular bands together (Mat Nageant Jazz Band, Leigh Barker’s Octet). We love the same styles, and he loves New Orleans music, which we got to play together although I was into it but didn’t play it much. He sometimes play also bebop together, or even Django’s music (I’ll invite him on stage at Le Bal Blomet in Paris this Friday for a Django meets Satchmo program. The show is sold out but hopefully you can still find a ticket on the day of the gig). We’ve decided to noodle on a Nola inspired blues. For my geek friends, I’m playing a 1934 Gibson L5 with bronze strings gauges 12. The sound is captured by a Neumann TLM 103, a Bluebird microphone, and this time an extra DPA 4099.
