The S54 is the best swap for purists who want more power in their older BMW. The S54 has a lot of aftermarket forced induction options for more power as well along with the ability to use factory electronics to make it standalone. LS engines have always been swapped in to any make and model and rightfully so. They are available by the dozen and have so many aftermarket components available to make them standalone.
