Once again Australia will hold a contentious event on 26th of January, with some ignoring our colonial history and the horror inflicted on the people who were here already, and some just getting around in flag trinkets made in China. This poem was written by J.W. Miller of Eskdale and published in 1901 on the creation of Australia as a country (as opposed to a British colony): https://trove.nla.gov.au/newspaper/ar... Details on the history of Australian Federation: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Federat... I assume this would be Eskdale in Victoria (rather than Queensland). Miller is referenced as a miner, but I am intrigued by his inclusion of science as a key theme in the poem. Miller also got a letter from the King for his poem written after Queen Victoria's death: https://trove.nla.gov.au/newspaper/ar... Here is a book of his poetry, published in 1893: https://nla.gov.au/nla.obj-76051311 Purchase my music: https://ozfolklounge.bandcamp.com/ Website (Lyrics and Chords): https://www.folklounge.org/lyrics-and...
