Colorectal cancer is cancer of the large intestine which includes both the colon and the rectum. This disease is usually diagnosed in the early stage but about 25% of patients already have the disease spread either to the liver or lung when it is diagnosed. Thankfully the 75% that are diagnosed early, the surgical treatment option comes first especially, for colon cancers in which an operation is done to remove that segment of the bowel which is affected along with margins. This is done through minimally invasive approaches such as laparoscopy or robotic surgery. However, sometimes due to certain factors, a conventional surgery with a long incision might be performed.
